Shirley I Hempel

Shirley Hempel passed away August 4, 2020 at the Edward M Poe Hospice Center in Titusville. Shirley was born in Southbridge Ma to Charlie & Aline Bruso December 1932. She is survived by her 3 Children, Deborah Jensen, Mehdi Koleini, Bobo Koleini. Grandchildren Jeremy Huston, Jennifer Huston, Justin Strenth, Deborah Koleini, Joey, Josh, Jamie, Mehdina, and Melinda Koleini. And 8 great-grandchildren.  Brother Charlie Bruso, wife Gloria, Sisters Phyllis Romane, & Carol Gagliano.

Shirley graduated from Mary E Wells High School, Southbridge MA. At 17, she took the Civil Service exam an got job at the Pentagon Washington DC. In 1965 she got a transfer to the Kennedy Space Center Florida ,NASA. She became the 2nd Woman  Licensed Contract Administrator for the US Government. She retired in 1987. She loved to bowl and was on a bowling league at Riverlanes Titusville for years. She enjoyed the pool and went to the beach every chance she got. When her husband (Jack Hempel) passed in 2001 she got her CNA license and became a volunteer for Hospice of St. Francis. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her!  

St Teresa's Catholic Church Titusville will dedicate a Mass to her on September 13, 2020 at 11:30am.
