Ola Mae Mitchell, 89, of Titusville, Florida went peacefully home to the Lord on July 23, 2021. She was born on June 23, 1932 on a ‘lily pad’ to the late Charlie and Lee Bozeman of Bruce, Florida.
She met the love of her life as a teenager and married him on Valentine’s Day in 1948. They built a home that was filled with love, laughter, and plenty of mouths to feed. Kenneth and Ola had seven children, eighteen grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. Ola was a celebrated homemaker and cook. She loved to gather family and friends together to laugh and eat. She was a comedian at heart and was most alive when she was making her family and friends buckle over in laughter. She donned hats, made up stories, and was the undefeated champion of the game, ‘Poor Kitty’. Saturdays often found her and Ken dressed in crimson and white while everyone gathered around the television to watch Alabama football. Ola owned and loved several lucky dogs in her life, but her last companion was her beloved Chico. Chico brought her so much devotion and purpose in her precious golden years. Ola loved the holidays and she especially enjoyed serving and entertaining her family for Thanksgiving. She would insist on feeding anyone who entered her home and spent her life serving the needs of those around her. Ola loved a good game of Chinese checkers, and she rarely turned down a Burger King whopper, a hershey bar, or a cold coke. And she never turned down a visit or a phone call from her family. Ola’s devotion to her family and to her Jesus colored every aspect of her beautiful life and her legacy lives on in so many of us.
Ola is survived by six of her children, Dwaine Mitchell (Debbie) of Ocala, Florida, Janice McAllister of Titusville, Florida, Ginger Morrison of Titusville, Florida, David Mitchell (Lori) of Titusville, Florida, Steve Mitchell ( Debbie) of Palm Bay, Florida, and Lorri Johns (Randy) of Titusville, Florida.; sixteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Kenneth R. Mitchell, her daughter Judy Blackshaw, her grandchildren Amanda (Bambi) Blackshaw and Joshua Mitchell, and her great grandchild Colton Blackshaw.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 10-11 AM at North Brevard Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service at 11AM with Reverend Royce “Scooter” Morrison, Jr. officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
