Mary Ellen Jones

Mary Ellen (Mockler) Jones, 81, passed away quietly on Friday, November 15, 2019.  Mary Ellen was the beloved daughter of Ellen and Thomas Mockler.  Born on February 3, 1938, in Baltimore, Maryland, she grew up in Baltimore and was the Valedictorian of the Class of 1956 at Mount De Sales Academy.  While employed by the federal government for nearly ten years, she met her future husband, James. Married in 1966, the couple moved to Florida where James worked for NASA. Mary Ellen supported her husband and his activities with the NASA Space Program for over 40 years, watching, hearing, and feeling rocket launches from their home in Titusville. She was devoted to their three children, supporting their school activities and serving as a Red Cross Volunteer at St. Teresa School.  Mary Ellen most loved spending time with her family and cooking delicious meals for them, complemented by her famous cookies. In later years she loved to care for her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, James, of Titusville; her son, James (Lynn), a recently retired U.S. Navy Captain, of Springfield, VA; Mary Ellen “Missy” (Steve) Winkler, Deputy General Counsel for the  St. Johns River Water Management District, of St. Augustine; and Kathleen (Mark) Bagley, a pediatric nurse practitioner, of Orlando; and her grandchildren Caroline, Andrew, Peter, Eric, Thomas, and Ryan. Visitation will be held on  Friday, November 22, 2019 from 5-7 at North Brevard Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Titusville at 11:30am. She will be laid to rest on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Lorraine Park Cemetery, Baltimore, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice of St. Francis or Mount de Sales Academy Scholarship Fund.
