Bonnie Barrett Schuyler, 93, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Saturday, August 31, 2019. Walking straight and free from pain at last, she reunited with the love of her life, Andrew J. Schuyler who preceded her in 2002. Born in March, 1926, in Royston, Georgia, Bonnie was a true southern belle.
She set aside her occupation as a telephone operator and willingly relocated during her husband’s career to Atlanta, GA, Richmond, VA and finally Titusville, FL in 1963. Through their 45 years together, Bonnie lovingly supported Andy as a most excellent homemaker, chef and companion. She missed him every day during the 16 years they were separated by his death, and looked forward with joy to joining him in their eternal home.
To her only daughter, Treacy, Bonnie was a deeply loving and devoted mother. She was a Brownie Troup leader, school clinic volunteer, homeroom mother, Sunday School and VBS teacher, and an ever-present source of encouragement during her daughter’s childhood, college, career, newlywed and motherhood years.
Bonnie modeled the Proverbs 31 woman being hospitable, generous and firm in her Christian faith. As a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church, she attended services regularly until her health declined. In her last years, she spent time in prayer for those she loved, and was often found napping with her open Bible in her lap.
Because of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we have the assurance of being reunited and spending eternity together in heaven. Those who met her there in addition to her husband include her parents, William J. and Cora S. Barrett, three sisters, Lucy Baugh, Ann Ross and Earlene Kesler, and two brothers, Norman and Coile Barrett. Those left here for now are her daughter, Treacy Redlien (Paul), grandchildren, Daniel Redlien (Erin) and Rachel Guinn (Christopher), great-grandchildren, Evan and Bridget Redlien and Andrew Guinn, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services will be held Sunday, September 8th, 3:00pm (viewing at 2:45), at North Brevard Funeral Home, Titusville. A private interment will follow at a later date at Oaklawn Cemetery. To honor her memory, the family suggests contributions to Bonnie’s favorite charities, Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC, 28607, or the Salvation Army, 1218 W Main, Titusville, FL, 32796.
