Obituary

Randy Eugene Henry went to be with the Lord early Friday morning April 12,2024.  Randy was born in Cedar Falls, IA. Sept.21, 1948 to his parents Dick and Clara Henry.  Randy, along with his two younger brothers, Mike and Mark Henry, was raised on a dairy farm in Cedar Falls, IA.  After graduating from Janesville, IA. School, Randy attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo. and transferred to Central Bible College also in Springfield, where he met his future wife Carol.  They were married August 21, 1970 and moved to Titusville in Jan. 1971 to be the Youth Pastors of the First Assembly of God church.  In College Randy had been involved with KWFC, the Christian Station at BBC.  Titusville had no Christian Radio in 1971 and Randy envisioned a public service Christian station serving Central Florida. Upon Checking with various attorneys practicing before the F.C.C. in Washington, Randy was advised that it would be a waste of time to apply for a license for such a station, as it would never be granted to a small corporation or individual.  Randy proceeded to form a non-profit corporation – Florida Public Radio, Inc. in April of 1974 and filed the application and after much correspondence, the F.C.C. granted Florida Public Radio, Inc. an educational non-commercial license to construct and operate a 10 watt F.M. radio station with a format of inspirational music and misc. public affairs programming. All glory to God, WPIO went on the air October 1975.  From that humble beginning history of WPIO, 9 other stations have been built by Randy: KREJ/KSNS in Kansas, KSKB/KLOX in Iowa and WEGS, WEJF, WKFA & WKTO all in Florida and several translator stations.  God has been so faithful to guide and provide and we are thankful that each of you can share in Randy’s celebration of life service.  Each of you has been very special to us through the years and by God’s grace and help the ministry will continue until Jesus comes. Randy is survived by his wife, Carol and their two sons Matthew and Jason and 3 beautiful Granddaughters, Makenzie, Kaitlyn & Brooklyn: two brothers, Mike and Mark Henry and half brother and sister Ben Henry & Stella Hite.  The family request in Lieu of Flowers please donate to the Radio Ministry WPIO 505 Josephine St Titusville 32796  https://www.wkto.net/
