April 6, 1927 ~ January 9, 2018 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Margaret Josephine Smith, aged 90 years, passed from this life unexpectedly on January 9th, 2018 after a brief illness. She is in the prayers, thoughts and hopes of her loving family and friends.

Margaret was born Margaret Josephine Cozzaglio on April 6, 1927, in Ventura, California to Louise (Lopez) and Joseph Cozzaglio.  After college and throughout her earlier life she was fulfilled as a working woman in various public relations, sales, and office administration assignments.  She even performed for a screen test for a friend’s relative, a movie director in 1940s Hollywood. Ever sensible, she remained in the office administration and public relations arena where, while employed at Point Magu Naval Air Station, in California, she met her future husband of thirty-two years, Arvid B. Smith, a WWII Navy veteran, who also later served during the Korean conflict. Margaret and Arvid moved their family to Titusville in 1968 when Arvid began his new career at NASA.  While living in Titusville, Margaret was employed by the Public Library System of Brevard County and worked as a real estate sales associate.

Margaret was an active and dedicated parishioner at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Titusville for 50 years and will be missed by her friends and devoted clergy; she was active in contributing to Church Sponsored charitable causes.  Margaret is survived by her 5 children: Karen Plumb (Neely) of Palestine, Texas; Arvid Smith, Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida; Judith Equels Olszewski (Larry) of Crawfordville, Florida; Christopher Smith (Cindy) of Fairfax, Virginia; and Melanie Smith of Titusville, Florida. Her 9 grandchildren are USMC CPT Victor E. Bockman, Jr. (Trina) of San Diego, California; Hadley C. D. Bockman of Palestine Texas: Joseph R. Karably-Smith of Jacksonville, Florida; Lesley Margaret Equels of Butte, Montana; Nathaniel Smith, Cameron Smith and Katherine Belle Smith of Fairfax, Virginia; Claire Margaret Smith of Knoxville, Tennessee; and Anne H. Cornell of Titusville, Florida. Margaret adored her one great grandchild, Emma Rachel Karably of Jacksonville, Florida.
